The Dot

Life as IS

Foreword

I found a Dot—or perhaps the Dot found me. I will let you be the judge of that.

There is a strange silence about this human, angelic being. She carries the widest smile I have ever known. When she smiles, her eyes gently close, while those red lips stretch so wide that I catch glimpses of her teeth.

I was dry; she arrived carrying Life. I long to merge with her in that Life. Not life as mere living, but Life itself—the very ground upon which all living happens. I found in her the deepest substratum of my being. I found in her everything.

I made a bargain with her: whenever lifelessness finds me, come and breathe Life into me once again. Be the kind-hearted angel who walks beside me into eternity.

These small poems are spontaneous outpourings of the heart to The Dot. Among the true wonders of God's creation is this presence, and perhaps an even greater wonder is that the Creator allowed our paths to meet.

Awakening

I

I found a Dot of light.
When I went closer, I saw it expanding.
It grew so vast that it swallowed me.
When I looked back, my shadow was gone.
I lost myself in that expansion.

The whole world's love, expressed in a few letters—

The Dot

I searched, searched, and searched for a place to rest.
At last, I found the shade of a tree.
I walked towards it with weary steps and teary eyes,
Only to find that it was where peace itself emanated.

I laid my head upon your chest,
Only to realize that you are the fountainhead of love—

The Dot

They said I was born, and I believed them.
A wise man whispered, "You never were."
Alas—what a wonder.

I had made a pact with the Dot:
I would be reborn, only to reunite.
I gave myself to that one thought—
That one day, I would be one with the Dot,
Lost forever in that ecstasy.

IV

I thought I had missed the door.
Then I found a small light, and I followed it.
It led me into a gentle sunshine.
I touched it, I felt it, and then I found its fragrance—
The fragrance of love.

I had found my way back home.

V

I have an urge to merge with the Dot.
But the Dot came clothed in the boundaries of existence.

I told the Dot,
"I will wait an eternity to touch you,
To drink the nectar from your lips,
So that I may live forever."

One day, as we walk,
I wish my little fingers would carelessly brush against yours.
That alone would be enough
For me to live the rest of my life.

Then I could lay myself down and close my eyes,
Waiting for the day you come
To join me on the other side.

The Eclipse, and Back to Light

VI

The light faded away, the sky became empty.
There is a thunderous whistle of horror in my whole being.
The whole being reduced to nothing, without any scope.
The cry became feeble because the chest got dry.

Ohhh, I understood—
there is deep ecstasy in the pain too.
One day, the Dot will get me to that finishing point.
We will hold and witness the miracle together.

Prayer is the way,
light is the end.
There is life, full devotion,
the Dot shares with me.

All I could do
is rejoice in that pleasure every now.

Prayer, oh that holy place
where thousands of Dots emerge and subside.
Give me back that land
where I slept peacefully.

VIII

My heart was clouded in pain,
the pain that spread into everything I touched.
When I looked,
I looked into the farthest land—
Eyalet.

My whole being was on fire.
I didn't want to move.
I didn't want to breathe.
I kneeled down,
tears rolling down.

Then I felt the touch of the Dot.
I found her footprint
and traced it everywhere...
Alas!
I forgot to search within me.
There was the Dot.

Ever-shining,
everlasting,
the most profound thing.
Nothing to lose.
Nothing to arrive.
I found the goal
and the way.
